Customer Convenience is Main Focus with Routes and “bizziebox” Lockers; Grand Opening Festivities July 11-17
Fairfax, VA, July 6, 2015 —Drycleaning customers in northern Virginia now have the ultimate in convenience with the grand opening of Martinizing Dry Cleaning in Fairfax. Offering multiple options for service, the new store is owned by John W. Gray IV, who spent his 20 year career in finance working for multiple Fortune 500 companies before setting out on his own.
“It has always been a goal of mine to own my own business,” said Gray. “I was inspired by my wife who has spent nearly a decade running a successful daycare. After researching many franchises and concepts, Martinizing was the right fit for me. I was a satisfied and loyal customer for many years, and I look forward to creating many memorable experiences for my customers. I firmly believe that reintroducing Martinizing into the northern Virginia market is a great opportunity to meet the demand for high-quality dry cleaning and to build a great business,” Gray added.
To celebrate the store’s grand opening, Gray will host a week-long celebration Saturday, July 11, through Friday, July 17. The festivities include:
- On Saturday, the 11th, and Sunday, the 12t, Martinizing t-shirts, flying discs and yo-yos will be given to the first 50 customers visiting the store.
- All week long there will be an opportunity to enter a drawing for a clothes hamper full of nostalgic toys, games, music and movies popular in the 1950s and 60s when Martinizing was a young and emerging brand. The winner will be drawn on Friday the 17th.
- Along with the weekend giveaways, there will be week-long dry clean specials and FREE ice cream on Wednesday the 15th from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
In addition to traditional in-store service in the Turnpike Shopping Center, Martinizing will offer home/office pick-up and delivery as well as a locker-based delivery option called “bizziebox.”
“Providing route service has been a common way to offer additional convenience for customers,” Gray said. “Now we are going one step further with bizziebox, where we will install lockers in apartment buildings and offices throughout the area. Customers can place their clothes in a locker, we will pick up the order within a day and return it to that locker location. It’s all technology-based, either through our mobile app, text, email or website, and it takes convenience to a whole new level,” said Gray.
“Customers no longer have to worry about getting to the store within certain hours. The bizziebox lockers are open and available whenever it’s convenient for the customer,” Gray noted. “I expect this additional service option to be very popular among today’s always-on-the-go customer.”
The store also will feature environmentally-friendly GreenEarth cleaning, a patented process that uses silicone, an environmentally non-toxic, non-hazardous and extremely gentle alternative process, designed to ensure the best possible result for fabrics and for the environment.

Market Penetration Exceeds 750 Locations
Berkley, MI, Nov. 07, 2014 — Martinizing International, LLC, an affiliate of The Huntington Company, LLC, a multi-concept franchisor located in Berkley, Mich., has acquired Martinizing, the largest U.S. based franchise drycleaning brand with 422 locations in eight countries including Canada, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan and Peru.
Already the largest provider of mobile drycleaning and laundry services in North America, The Huntington Company and its affiliates’ portfolio of franchise brands that provide textile restoration, drycleaning and laundry services now has more than 750 locations, doubling its number with the addition of Martinizing.

Founded in 1949, Martinizing became a worldwide brand and the largest drycleaning franchisor in the U.S. following the return of George Strike to the family business in 1978. Strike became co-owner of Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds in 1981 and was renowned for his community service. Strike passed away in 2012 at age 82.
